“A week of celebrating Ludwig Bemelmans’s life here in Oswego, NY. Ludwig was a WWI private at Fort Ontario in 1917, and he wrote a book “My War With The United States” about his experiences. A few years later, he started a series of children’s books about a school girl in Paris named Madeline, for which he became famous and much beloved. Oswego will celebrate the 100th anniversary of WWI and Bemelmans service with a play adapted from the book, a community  art exhibit titled “Madeline in Oswego”, and a day of free family fun events like kite flying, games, crafts, music, storytelling & more!
