Please consider making an online donation to Friends of Fort Ontario
Dear Friend,
We hope this message finds you and your loved ones well during this unusual time in our lives.
If you’ve wondered how the old stone fort was doing during the pandemic, it’s been a bit tough. In the interest of public health and as directed by the Governor, the Fort was not able to open this past season until mid-July with capacity limited to 50%, and the Museum Shop was not able to open at all. Although the Fort is a State Park operated by New York State, and that funding only covers so much; There are many needs not financially supported by NY State. This is where Friends of Fort Ontario comes in. Our purpose is to encourage community participation in programs; assist in the preservation and the enhancement of the collection of artifacts and documents at Fort Ontario; develop and conduct educational programs, services, and activities to broaden the experience of visitors; sponsor fundraising events which will lead to improvements at Fort Ontario and participate in other activities; work in harmony with the operation of Fort Ontario State Historic Site.
Due to our lost revenues from museum shop sales and virtually all of our fundraising events such as the Harborfest fireworks viewing being canceled this and last year, we are reaching out for assistance.
Would you please help Friends of Fort Ontario with a donation today?
We know times are tough for everyone right now, but every little bit helps. Truly.
Your generosity today, no matter the amount, would be greatly appreciated. You would help the Friends of Fort Ontario continue our purpose and provide much-needed support to Fort Ontario, including the purchase of artifacts to be donated to NYS Collection of Artifacts, uniforms, and gear for the living history program, sponsorship for Americorp staff, annual historic conference, and more. You can respond to our request by donating online via PayPal. You can also donate by phone by calling (315) 343 – 4711 or putting cash donations in the donation box outside our museum shop at the Fort.
Thank you!
Daniel Laird
President, Friends of Fort Ontario
